What is Occupational Therapy?
Occupational therapy (OT) helps patients of all ages lead active, independent, and productive lives by improving their ability to develop, recover, or safely perform activities of daily living. Using a variety of methods and adaptive equipment, occupational therapists evaluate and provide treatment plans that focus on controlling pain, swelling and abnormal sensitivity, as well as restoring strength, mobility, coordination, and functional performance. OT strives to get beyond disability or limitations, creating ways for individuals to live life to its fullest no matter what.
At PVHMC, our talented occupational therapists provide inpatient, outpatient, adult, and pediatric care. Treating a wide range of diagnoses through several specialized OT programs, including Hand & Wrist, Stroke, Pediatric OT, Work Injuries, and Low Vision, they can be found working with patients throughout the hospital, in Rehab Services at the OPP, and at Milestones Center for Child Development at PVHC in Claremont. We are extremely proud of our entire OT staff and wish to recognize them and the many services they provide.
