Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center (PVHMC) was named a 2018 San Gabriel Valley Environmental Award Winner by the Los Angeles Regional Agency (LARA) and was recognized by the Pomona City Council and Mayor Tim Sandoval for its commitment to environmental stewardship during a June 4 City Council meeting.
The Hospital’s environmental leadership efforts include reducing its carbon footprint by recycling paper and cardboard materials and implementing its cutting edge “Organic Food Waste” program.
Pomona Mayor Tim Sandoval presented the award to Rogelio Gaeta, PVHMC sous chef, Food and Nutrition Services, and John Mursa, PVHMC environmental services manager, on behalf of LARA and commended the Hospital’s dedication to conservation and sustainable practices.
LARA, founded in 2004, was formed by environmentally conscious recycling advocates and representatives from 14 cities across the Los Angeles region. The agency seeks to promote environmental responsibility through the state-mandated reduce, reuse and recycle philosophy of the State of California Assembly Bill 939. LARA recognizes and bestows awards on businesses that have demonstrated a commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship.
