Rialto Community Players Bring Play to Life to Raise Funds for The Robert and Beverly Lewis Family Cancer Care Center

During the 2018-2019 theatre season, the cast of the Rialto Community Players, a theatre troupe, put on the production of “Calendar Girls,” which tells a funny, heartfelt story of a close-knit group of women who deal with the loss of one of the husbands to cancer. In the play, the women devise a plan to raise funds for a new seatee in the hospital’s waiting room by creating and selling a calendar of themselves topless.

In the spirit of their characters, the Rialto Community Players decided they would also make and sell calendars of themselves “seemingly topless” to raise funds for The Robert and Beverly Lewis Family Cancer Care Center.

“The Center was chosen as the recipient of this gift because, through my previous years in the medical profession, we made countless patient referrals to the Cancer Care Center. The communication and care provided to our patients was always second to none,” says SharonAnn Ernsberger of the Rialto Community Players.

On June 26, the troupe presented the donation and a copy of the calendar to Dr. Rao, Radiation Oncologist and Medical Director of the Cancer Program. We are grateful for this special gift to our Center!
