Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center (PVHMC) recently held a ribbon-cutting to celebrate the grand opening of its second Milestones Center for Child Development in Chino Hills. Two certificates and a plaque were presented to the center from the city and county during the ceremony. The center’s opening marks the successful response to the recent demand for pediatric rehabilitation services in the greater Los Angeles and San Bernardino Counties.
More than 100 guests were in attendance at the event, held at the lobby of Pomona Valley Health Center Chino Hills at Grand, where guests had the opportunity to snack on food provided by Cannataro’s Italian Restaurant and Nothing Bundt Cakes, both located in Chino. Guests were also encouraged to participate in a raffle for two complimentary wine tasting tickets where Maria Castro, the mother of a Milestones patient (I think MS in Sandy’s email was for Milestones), emerged the winner. In addition to this, certificates were presented to the new Milestones center from Curt Haman, Fourth District Supervisor of San Bernardino County and Chino Hills City Council Member, Peter Rogers. A plaque was presented from Zeb Welborn, Chino Valley Chamber of Commerce Executive Director.
Dedicated exclusively to the rehabilitative needs of children, the new, 2,686-square foot Milestones Center, located at Pomona Valley Health Center Chino Hills, offers comprehensive pediatric physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech and language therapy services. This also includes treatments for a variety of diagnoses including cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, autism, hearing loss, cleft lip and palate, muscle imbalances, scoliosis, developmental delays and more. The Milestones facilities and clinical programming are designed to help children with developmental disabilities maximize their potential.
Since opening its doors, the original Milestones Center for Child Development has served more than 4,200 infants and adolescents. However, the Claremont center is at capacity, as access to pediatric rehabilitation is limited in this southwestern corner of San Bernardino County and adjacent communities in eastern Los Angeles County.
Also spurring the need for a second location is patient demographics. Many of the families currently served by the Claremont facility reside south of Interstate 10. PVHMC has seen some families who have been traveling to Claremont for services have chosen to switch to the new facility closer to home. In addition, the new center provides services to families from all socioeconomic levels, with a large percentage of Milestones patients receiving government-sponsored health coverage.
The new Milestones Center for Child Development is located at 2140 Grand Avenue in Chino Hills. Most insurance plans are accepted, and cash rates also are available. Physician referrals are required. To learn more about services, visit pvhmc.org/milestones.
