The Gift of a Pain-Free Life

Elena Valdez lived through decades of knee pain. When medications no longer worked, Elena went to see orthopedic surgeon Neeraj Gupta, MD, at Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center (PVHMC) to explore her options. Exactly one year later, Elena underwent a second knee surgery to replace her other damaged knee.

The Joint Replacement Program at PVHMC’s Orthopedic Institute is a unique program that aims to provide innovative, high-quality care. Some of the features of our program include:

• Pre-Operative education course, which prepares you for surgery and offers all an opportunity to ask questions with our nurse practitioner, called the Joint Replacement Preparation Class. • A comprehensive patient guide for you to follow from six weeks before surgery until three months after surgery and beyond.
• A dedicated Nurse Practitioner and navigator who coordinates your care during your hospital stay.
• A Nurse Clinical Coordinator who coordinates your preoperative education and care and follows up with you after discharge.
• A physical therapist who designs your physical therapy rehabilitation plan following your total knee or hip replacement. On the day of surgery, within just 90 minutes, you'll begin your rehabilitation with a physical therapist. Outpatient physical therapy services are also available to continue supporting your recovery after surgery.
