A Beautiful Union at PVHMC

On Saturday, July 27, Tazari Jones looked absolutely stunning as she walked down the aisle towards her soon-to-be-husband, Frederick (Freddy). She had been looking forward to her wedding day in Oak Hills, but she never expected to instead be making her vows at Station 2 of the Labor & Delivery Unit at Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center (PVHMC).
Just four days prior, Tazari, 28 weeks pregnant, was in the midst of planning her combined wedding and baby shower when her water broke unexpectedly. Her dad rushed her to the Women’s Center at PVHMC, where she was admitted with pre-term rupture of membranes (PPROM). Her care team was able to stall her labor, but because of the loss of amniotic fluid, she and her baby are at an increased risk of infection.
Tazari received the shocking news that she would need to remain in the hospital on bedrest for at least a few weeks to ensure the baby’s development in the womb as long as possible. She was understandably disheartened, but says that her admitting nurse, Daryn, did all she could to help her stay in good spirits that night.
With family and friends coming from as far as Alabama, including her officiant, the family was devastated at the news. However, when her nurse, Norma, found out that she was going to miss her celebrations, she decided to take matters into her own hands. With the help of the maternity staff, security and Tazari’s loved ones, the wedding would go on.
“Nothing was going to stop us from getting married and having this important union before God,” said Tazari.
That Saturday night, about a dozen of her close friends and family members, as well as the officiant, were brought up to Station 2 for the celebration. One of the maternity nurses, Porsha, had prepared the area to be wedding-ready and brought bubbles for guests to blow as they walked down the hall. The rest of her loved ones headed over to the original venue to dance, celebrate, pray and send them all the good vibes.
“I’m grateful to the hospital for allowing us to have this day – the nurses, doctors and staff were so encouraging – and to my husband (my best support system), parents, godmom and family for ensuring that everything went smoothly,” she said. “Most importantly, I’m grateful to God to be standing and healthy, and that my baby is well.”
Tazari is looking forward to meeting her new son soon and says she talks to him every day.
Congratulations to this beautiful family on their union. Please join us in wishing them all the love, health and wellness in the world.
