Vascular Care: Diagnostic, Interventional, and Surgical Procedures
From diagnostic assessments to interventional therapies and surgical interventions,
we are dedicated to enhancing vascular health and optimizing patient outcomes
through advanced, tailored treatments.
Diagnostic Procedures
Our vascular diagnostic procedures utilize imaging technologies such as
CT scans, MRI imaging, angiography, and transcranial Doppler (TCD) ultrasound.
These tests give us insights into many vascular conditions, including
varicose veins, deep vein thrombosis (DVT), and arterial blockages. This
process ensures we give each of our patients the right treatment plan.
Interventional Therapies
PVHMC offers interventional therapies to address complex vascular conditions.
These include:
-
Dialysis Access Fistula/Graft Procedures: Vital for patients requiring hemodialysis, creating a connection between
an artery and vein or using a synthetic tube to facilitate efficient blood
flow during dialysis sessions.
-
Atherectomy: An atherectomy may be performed during cardiac catheterization to open
a partially blocked coronary artery. Once the catheter reaches the narrowed
portion of the artery, a cutting device, a whirling blade (such as a rotor
blade), is used to remove the plaque.
-
Rotoblader Procedures: Using a special catheter inserted into the coronary artery, the rotoblader
cuts its way into the plaque with a diamond-tipped head, pulverizing it
into microscopic pieces that float downstream and are disposed of by your body.
-
Stenting and Angioplasty: Techniques used to treat narrowed or blocked arteries, enhancing blood
flow and reducing the risk of stroke and arterial complications.
-
Thrombectomy: Procedure used to remove blood clots from blood vessels, minimizing stroke-related
disability.
Surgical Interventions
Some of the vascular surgical procedures we offer include:
-
Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Surgical Repair (AAA Repair): Addresses weakened areas in the aorta's wall to prevent internal bleeding,
organ damage and other complications that may be life-threatening.
-
Carotid Endarterectomy: Removes plaque buildup from carotid arteries, reduces the risk of stroke
and improves vascular health.
-
Femoropopliteal Bypass (Fem-Pop Bypass) Surgery directs blood flow around blocked arteries in the legs. This process can alleviate
symptoms and improve mobility for patients with peripheral artery disease (PAD).
