Pediatric Pulmonary Clinic

Helping Children Feel And Live Better With Asthma And Other Pulmonary Conditions

The American Lung Association estimates that 6.1 million children under the age 18 are impacted by asthma.

Our pediatric pulmonary specialists are focused on your child as if he or she were their own. Know that your child’s care team is highly trained in diagnosing pulmonary illnesses, injuries and extensive pulmonary conditions. We are wholly invested in bringing your child relief and providing you and your family with a lifelong strategy to navigate every stage of life from today on.

We provide consultation and treatment for conditions such as:

  • Chronic lung disease or bronchopulmonary dysplasia as defined by the following criteria:
    • Less than 32 weeks’ gestation at birth
    • Oxygen dependency at 36 weeks’ postmenstrual age
    • Need for supplemental oxygen for more than 28 days
    • Radiographic changes characteristic of chronic lung disease

Infants meeting criteria for management of their chronic lung disease post NICU discharge are treated in our comprehensive bronchopulmonary clinic.

  • Reactive airway disease (asthma)
  • Clinical symptoms of pulmonary compromise (tachycardia, wheezing, rales, retractions)
  • Congenital abnormalities which predispose to pulmonary complications (tracheoesophageal fistula, diaphragmatic hernia, lung occupying lesions)
  • Obstructive airway disease

Children treated in our asthma clinic are offered in-clinic spirometry testing by specially trained respiratory therapists to help assessment progress toward asthma management. Education is also provided to parents and children to help them live active, symptom-free lives.
