The Chaplain Service at Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center is an interfaith service designed to provide pastoral or spiritual care to patients and their families, while respecting and supporting the needs of our religiously and spiritually diverse community.
A Chaplain can offer a sensitive listening presence, help to facilitate conversation about spiritual concerns and mobilize the spiritual resources of patients and their families.
A Chaplain can provide support during family conferences and, because Hospital Chaplains are part of a multi-disciplinary health care team, they can provide support with treatment decisions and can assist in communicating with physicians and staff.
In addition, a Chaplain can offer pastoral functions such as prayer or sacraments (baptism, communion, anointing).
At the request of the patient or their family, a Chaplain can coordinate spiritual or pastoral care and contact their faith community’s clergy.
Community clergy are encouraged to contact Chaplain Services with their needs and concerns, as Chaplains work together with them in providing spiritual care for patients and their families.
If you or your family are in need of spiritual care and support please notify your nurse or contact Chaplain Services directly at 909.469.9305.
