Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center (PVHMC) has one of the most highly-decorated and fastest-growing emergency departments in the region. Our 24-hour, 7-days-a-week facility offers 72 beds and the most highly-trained staff of doctors and nurses in Pomona, all of whom offer immediate care, precise diagnoses, and effective treatment. In addition, our Emergency Department (ED) is the only facility in the area approved to offer emergency pediatric care. We also offer provider on arrival, this means that the first person your will come on contact with in our emergency department is a board certified emergency medicine physician who will evaluate your condition for faster treatment.
Our medical emergency care utilizes the advanced technology and state-of-the-art procedures that our hospital has been known for since 1903. By continuing to push our standard of care higher and higher, PVHMC can ensure that our patients receive the best possible care. As a result, Healthgrades® has ranked us among the top 5 percent of facilities offering emergency medicine.
When patients cannot afford to wait for their own physician's office to open, or urgent care does not provide what they need, our Emergency Department is the best option for them. Our team of doctors, nationally-certified nurses and ancillary staff provide stabilizing care, regardless of insurance coverage.
Our Emergency Department has a wide variety of physicians and specialists on call in the following areas:
Emergency Department Approved for Pediatrics (EDAP) Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center (PVHMC) is a designated Emergency Department Approved for Pediatrics (EDAP). What this means is that we have equipment specially designed for pediatric patients and all of our staff are trained to meet the needs of children of all ages. We have physicians and nurses who are trained and nationally certified in both pediatric emergency medicine and advanced life support. Because children are different from those of adults, children have a different spectrum of disease and their smaller bodies require specialized medical procedures and equipment that take in to account their size and stage of development. Pediatric advocates feel that children in need of medical care do better when taken care of by physicians and nurses who are trained to attend to both a child's physical and emotional needs.
