PVHMC provides services and support for patients requiring inpatient or outpatient surgical interventions. We are proud to provide a comprehensive approach to the education, preparation, and care of our surgical patients and their families. A typical surgical journey begins with your physician’s referral and a visit to our pre-admission unit for surgery (PAUS). A registered nurse and a skilled technician will answer your questions and begin preliminary preparation for surgery. Any necessary lab work will be done at this time to facilitate a smooth and comfortable experience the day of your surgery. Information on how to prepare and what to expect will be provided to you. For our pediatric patients, we provide a tour for both the parent and child. Appropriate developmental teaching will be provided before and after surgery. On the day of surgery, you will arrive at the pre-operative unit. Our experienced staff will prepare you for surgery with personalized care and transport you to the holding room. Our surgical team, which will include one of our board-certified anesthesiologists, a registered nurse, and a surgical scrub technician will interview you and answer any questions. Once in the surgical suite, your surgery will begin.
